Being in the Global IT industry for the last 7+ years now I’ve seen a lot of companies going for inexpensive solutions over quality solutions. For example — using software or SAAS solution from a vendor who keeps you completely dependent on them & gives you less scope for scaling your business & you are struggling with whether to focus on growth or always stress about cost management. Again with another case, you are a small company or startup when thinking about a digital solution you are seeing a lot of expensive vendors in the market while thinking to hire a part-time resource from the big companies but thinking about the expenses you are landing on hiring inexpensive resources who have less experience & taking a lot of time to market your product.
Well, certainly there’s no right or wrong choice in business it’s always the experience & data based on which you need to do your course correction to become successful in what you do.
When a startup hires big company resources, they have a mindset of hiring the resource with experience so that they can
- market the product faster
- do fewer mistakes &
- can get the right ROI
When a company chooses SAAS products where vendors are not making you dependent on their platforms which might cost a bit more but then they know when it’s time for scaling they can shift & both vendor companies & have a win-win situation.
The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price has faded from memory. -unknown
✅ So moral of the story ✅
If you are not in a win-win situation where both you & your vendor win then the failure is evident. A win-win situation helps you grow more sustainable & helps you go above and beyond at times.
